For one year old babies, the world holds new and amazing sites around every corner. A blade of grass, a flower petal floating on the breeze or a bird soaring over head are all wonders to behold. Each april I too am full of amazement when the flowers break through winters bleakness and begin to bloom. One of the first harbingers of spring is the wood anemone. (For all you flower nerds out there the latin name is Anemone nemorosa) Hidden from view most of the year, each spring they carpet the forrest floor with small white blooms. The wood anemone’s tiny white petals open during the day and close at night or if rain is on the way. People once believed they were a safehaven for faires due to their folding habits.
Mother Marie and daughter Sofie were great sports tromping through the morning dew and playing with all the flowers. We didn’t see any fairy’s but the light, the flowers and love between mother and daughter made for a magical morning.
