What a joy it was to photograph Kate and Jose’s wedding at Copenhagen City Hall. City Hall is a very large, very old building and they have a large number of weddings every year. Despite all the people coming and going for the weddings a lone, they do other work at City Hall. Sometimes they host foreign dignitaries. Sometimes there is an art exhibit in the hall. Sometimes they have economic meetings, and sometimes they film movies and television shows.
Normally it is possible to walk around inside City Hall and photograph brides and grooms in the beautiful building. But not on Kate and Jose’s day. The entire building was locked down because they were shooting a movie. It was a very dark December day outside, but the movie lights lit up the entire side of the building, and helped me with my own lighting. (Thanks movie guys!)
Because we were only allowed in the wedding chambers we went out into the back streets of Copenhagen, followed a canal and wound our way to Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament. It is a popular spot for photos especially if it is raining out.
Kate and Jose were so much fun and despite the dark weather their wedding was romantic and exciting from start to finish.
