Children’s portraits in a fairytale garden near Sorø, Denmark
June 18, 2018
A few minutes from Sorø, Denmark, lies Christiansdal Monastery. It was built in 1872 by architect Christian Hansen and was a home for women. Over the years it has been modernized and is now apartments. My very lucky friend lives in one and the first time I went to visit, I knew the grounds would be an amazing place for photography.
The monastery, sits on the edge of Vesterskov forrest and has a large park, a lake and residents can rent their own garden spaces. This time of year the gardens are filled with flowers and it could’t be more magical. I was so happy to be able to share the private location with these two beautiful sisters.
Our session started standing between the lupine, which (I didn’t know this until writing this post) symbolises imagination. How funny, since it is easy to imagine up all sorts of adventures while walking down winding garden paths to the lake.
